Robert Provenzano, MD

Dr. Robert Provenzano is an experienced nephrologist and CEO of INNOCURA Nephrology. Dr. Provenzano is a past President of the Renal Physicians Association and a member of the Board of Trustees for the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan. He is also an active member of the American Society of Nephrology and the American Society of Transplantation, with numerous research and other publications​.

Dr. Provenzano served as Chief Medical Officer for Nephrology Practice Solutions (NPS) at DaVita where he oversaw DaVita’s owned and managed nephrology practices.

​Prior to NPS, Dr. Provenzano served as the Chief of the Division of Nephrology, Hypertension & Transplantation, Director of Nephrology Research, and Director of Acute Dialysis Services at St. John Hospital & Medical Center​.

Dr. Provenzano also led St. Clair Specialty Physicians in Michigan, Colorado and Idaho.

Jennie Peterson

President

Jennie M. Peterson is an experienced healthcare executive with more than 20 years of diverse leadership experience. Most recently, she has served as a healthcare consultant and private investor.

She previously served as Vice President at DaVita, leading a strategic business unit focused on nephrology practices with Dr. Provenzano and Mr. Hovermann.  

Jennie also previously served as Vice President of Corporate Development and Chief of Staff at WellPoint (Anthem/Elevance Health), with a focus on identification and execution of acquisitions and investments to enhance the company’s growth opportunities and optimize its portfolio of products. During her tenure with WellPoint, she executed multiple transactions ranging from early-stage company investments to larger acquisitions such as Amerigroup and CareMore, that combined represented over $7 billion in aggregate value. Earlier in her career, Jennie served as Vice President in the Healthcare Investment Banking Division at Goldman, Sachs & Co, where she acted as an advisor on mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt offerings for multiple healthcare companies.  

Jennie graduated summa cum laude with a BS in finance and economics from the University of Denver and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.  

Mark Hovermann

CFO/CGO

“I have been fortunate to spend more than half of my career in the business of healthcare. Joining INNCOURA allows me to contribute to nephrology practices so they can maximize their future success in an evolving landscape.” 

Mark Hovermann is an experienced executive in both established and start-up healthcare services companies. Most recently he served as Chief Financial Officer at Foresight Mental Healthcare. He also previously served at CFO at Ingenovis Health and as a Vice President at DaVita​.

He has built and led high-performing finance teams and has 20+ years of experience advising C-Suite and senior executives on strategies, acquisitions, growth opportunities and navigating periods of significant change​. 

He is also experienced in strategic and corporate development to help companies realize value-enhancing attributes to successfully partner with private equity sponsors.​

Allen Nissenson, MD

“I have spent over 40 years trying to improve the lives of kidney patients.  Innocura finally offers a platform for nephrologists to do just that and transform kidney care.”

 

Dr. Nissenson is currently an Emeritus Professor of Medicine at The David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he previously served as Director of the Dialysis Program and Associate Dean.

Dr. Nissenson served as Chief Medical Officer of DaVita Kidney Care for 11 years and Emeritus Chief Medical Officer for two years.  He is a past President of the Renal Physicians Association and past Chair of Kidney Care Partners.

By serving on many boards, Dr. Nissenson has influenced kidney care on a national scale and served as a Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellow of The Institute of Medicine, working as a health advisor to the late senator Paul Wellstone.

Dr. Nissenson has authored textbooks on dialysis and 740+ publications in the field of nephrology, dialysis, anemia management, and healthcare delivery and policy. He has been recognized with many awards, including the President’s Award of the National Kidney Foundation.

David Kim, MD, MBA

“As a physician, my primary focus areas are quality of care and provider alignment. I believe that INNOCURA empowers its Nephrologists to provide the best care for the patients that they serve.”

Dr. Kim co-founded Regal Healthcare Capital Partners. Prior to the formation of Regal, he founded Progressive Emergency Physicians, a provider of healthcare administration, management, staffing, and consulting services to hospital clients. Prior to the founding of Progressive, Dr. Kim founded Premier Care Urgent Care, where he was the Chief Executive Officer from its inception in 2007 through its 2013 merger with CityMD. Additionally, Dr. Kim has partnered with Dr. Scott Asnis to found Dental365, a dental support organization with practices throughout the metropolitan area.

Dr. Kim completed his undergraduate studies at Columbia University in 1990 with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering. Prior to receiving his medical degree, Dr. Kim worked as an operational consultant with Arthur Andersen, working primarily for multinational companies. After his tenure with Arthur Andersen, he attended the College of Medicine at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn. He completed his residency at LIJ and became an Attending Physician for NS/LIJ. After his time as an Attending Physician at NS/LIJ, Dr. Kim went on to receive his MBA from Columbia Business School in 2018.

Dr. Kim currently serves on the Board of Directors of multiple high growth healthcare services businesses.

Jon Santemma, JD, MBA

Mr. Santemma is a co-founder of Regal Healthcare Capital Partners. Prior to the formation of Regal, he was the Global Head of Healthcare Investment Banking at Jefferies LLC, which he joined in 2009. From 1999-2009, Mr. Santemma was a Managing Director in the Healthcare Investment Banking Group of UBS, including a six year stint in London where he helped build out UBS’ European Healthcare Investment Banking business.

Mr. Santemma began his healthcare investment banking career with Citigroup/Smith Barney in 1995, after practicing law in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. Mr. Santemma completed his undergraduate studies at Hamilton College in 1987 with a B.A. and completed a JD/MBA from Fordham University in 1991.

Mr. Santemma serves on the Board of Directors of multiple high growth healthcare services businesses.

Kevin Yu, RN, MSN

Kevin Yu is a Vice President at Regal Healthcare Capital Partners. Prior to Regal, Kevin was a Principal with Nexus Health Capital, a middle-market focused Investment Bank focused on healthcare services, which he joined in 2011. Prior to Nexus, Kevin was a healthcare consultant working with several of the largest health systems in the U.S. on strategic planning and operations improvement. Kevin received a B.S. in Finance and Healthcare Management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, a B.S. in Nursing from the School of Nursing of the University of Pennsylvania, and a MSN in Health Leadership from the School of Nursing of the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Yu is a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
